Replace manual data analysis in Excel, which left room for error, with an interactive online Power BI dashboard that anyone in the organization can use.

I used SQL to query the data tables and import them into a local database, where the data is normalized. The pipeline loads the tables from the company's ERP system and runs on a schedule to keep them up to date. Next, I used Power Query to import and shape the loaded tables. In Power BI, I set up table relationships, DAX measures, and calculated columns to compute the data I needed. Finally, I built the visuals with Power BI's built-in tools, then designed the dashboard and published it to SharePoint.

Engineers and other teams across departments now get the data they need from an interactive Power BI dashboard that stays up to date. It replaced the manual process of searching for data in the company's SharePoint.

Turn a list of required cut lengths into a plan for cutting and batching the extrusions.

I used Python and the first-fit decreasing (FFD) algorithm to write a program that optimizes cut lengths for extrusion sticks. It sorts the cuts longest first, then fills in smaller cuts until the 12-foot aluminum stick is used up or only a small scrap piece is left. In Power BI, the dashboard shows KPI cards and a chart of how each extrusion is cut and which order it belongs to. It also shows the total sticks required, total scrap and scrap percentage, and the overall optimization percentage.

The cutting tool is published in Power BI and as a standalone web app, and it's used in production.

Create MFG rulesets in AS400 for the GRD product family, with logic that makes the exported BOMs correct and consistent with the engineering drawings for each model.

I developed the logic and structure of the MFG rulesets for specific product groups and set them up in the AS400 ERP system. The logic has to match each product's current Price List and Ordering Procedure (PLOP), and the BOMs the ruleset issues have to match the SolidWorks assemblies in the system, to avoid inaccurate builds and discrepancies at the plants. I also keep the ruleset organized and maintainable, and fix errors as they come up.

Ensure drawings and BOMs stay accurate through engineering changes, without doing the same manual steps over and over.

Instead of editing parts by hand, I wrote Excel VBA macros for three jobs: generating SolidWorks files, checking BOM output, and setting up parts in AS400 (MACPAC). They speed up the process significantly and cut out time-consuming manual steps.

File generation, BOM checks, and AS400 part setup now run from macros instead of by hand.

Measure the valves' maximum airflow at minimum pressure and evaluate how efficient they are.

I ran the tests in the lab and collected the data, then analyzed it and built the visualizations in R.

I wrote the lab report, which is used in the product engineering handbook to show how the valve performs at minimum pressure. The handbook standardizes airflow performance reference data for internal use.
